White Spruce The White Spruce is a large timber tree native to northern Michigan. It has short, stiff needles that grow on all sides of the branches and are a light bluish-green to dark green. It can attain a height of 90-100 feet. It grows best in clay or well-drained soils and can tolerate heat, cold, moisture, drought and partial shade. It can be used as windbreakers, shelter belts and wildlife cover. The wood is used for pulpwood, interior trim, construction and structural parts of furniture. |
